Services
Services Provided
Pet Pals of Texas provides in-home pet care, food, and veterinary support to the companion and service animals of
the disabled and terminally ill to keep them together in their homes. Our mission is to help improve the quality of life
for people with disabilities and terminal illnesses by offering the practical supports necessary for them to keep and
maintain pets of their own.
Additionally, Pet Pals of Texas will deliver food and supplies, when donations are available, and provide assistance
with vet expenses when funding is available. Perhaps the most important program of our organization is the In-Home
Pet Care Support Program whereby our volunteers make regularly scheduled visits to the homes of our participants
and provide the following pet care related services:

Who We Serve
Pet Pals of Texas provides volunteer assistance to financially disadvantaged people with disabilities or terminal
illnesses who need help with the care of their pets. At the present time, we provide services to people who are living in
Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, and Kendall Counties. All individuals who are requesting help must complete an
application packet and have written documentation of their illness or disability. Those who wish to receive financial
assistance for veterinary expenses or food and supplies must show additional proof of low-income such as SSI/SSDI,
Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.
Our Pet Pals volunteers will provide in-home care for up to two (2) pets per participant. These pets include: dogs, cats,
small furry animals (such as hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, etc.) birds, and fish. We DO NOT provide care for reptiles. In
addition, all dogs and cats over four (4) months old must be spayed/neutered. Our organization DOES NOT provide
adoption services for unwanted litters of puppies or kittens. Finally, for the safety of our volunteers, we will not provide
care to aggressive animals.
THOSE WHO ARE NOT DISABLED OR TERMINALLY ILL ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE.
