Volunteer with Pet Pals of Texas From office work to delivery drivers, volunteer opportunities are abundant!

Volunteer Opportunities!

  • Delivery Drivers and Pet Care Providers Our clients depend on Pet Pals of Texas to deliver food and supplies, walk their dogs, clean out litter pans, and take pets to vet and grooming appointments. Our clients are carefully screened and our Pet Pals Executive Director, Vicki Jurney-Taylor, personally visits each home we service to ensure it is a safe environment for our volunteers. If you enjoy meeting new people and traveling around town, this volunteer opportunity is for you! .
  • Office Staff We always need help answering the phone and answering email. Volunteers maintain our Kritter Kupboard with all of our pet supplies. If you prefer working in an office environment, then volunteering on our office staff is the opportunity for you!
  • Fundraising and Community Outreach Pet Pals of Texas attends a lot of community events to raise awareness of the importance of companion animals and properly caring for pets. Our Community Outreach volunteers help plan and attend our fundraising events. .

Volunteer Requirements

For our Delivery Driver and Pet Care Provider positions, Pet Pals of Texas welcomes volunteers age 18 and over. Volunteers must be able to pass a background test and random drug screening. Because our clients depend on Pet Pals of Texas to care for their pets, reliable transportation is a must.

Volunteers under age 18 are welcome to volunteer in some positions along with a parent or legal guardian. Pet Pals of Texas understands that the desire to help animals exists in people of all ages. We would love to have your family be part of our volunteer team.

Volunteer Orientation is held on the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room at the Castle Hills Self-Storage facility located at 7340 Blanco Road. The meetings cover such topics as basic pet care and  health, confidentiality, home visit etiquette, and volunteer rights and responsibilities.

Please fill out the volunteer application here and our volunteer coordinator will contact you.

Foster Care

Our clients are disabled or terminally ill. Unfortunately, that means there are times when our clients' pets will need temporary foster care. Foster care can range anywhere from a day to a few months.

If a client needs to go into the hospital for treatment, the Pet Pals of Texas volunteer foster parents will provide care for the pets while the client is unavailable. The pets return home as soon as the client is able to recieve them back.
